Christmas Bunting

See what a busy girl I've been made a whole load of Christmas Bunting

The above is the fabric bunting made of assorted Christmas print fabrics which has been topped with green wide bias binding. To see how to make this bunting refer to earlier blog posts http://dawnthecrafter.blogspot.co.uk/2012/01/traditional-decoration.html

The second lot of bunting is again fabric but this time felt. For this bunting I used a bunting die cut to create the felt bunting pennants then other die cut felt and fabric shapes to decorate them. I also added sequins, beading and some embroidery to finish the item.  Paula take note finally finished the bunting I started in the classes we had in the Spring hope you like them.

Christmas Bags

I love the idea of personalised bags and stockings for Christmas presents, I think they are a lovely way to present gifts, if truth be known I think presentation is as important as the gift itself. That's just me though. In the past year I started making bags/ sack for pressies. So far I made bags for my daughter and hubby and this year I'm making one for my son and his girlfriend.

Here are the ones I've made so far

The above bag is a simple canvas/cotton carrier type bag onto which I applied felt cut out shapes and very simple embroidery. I also added some bead work to the flower centres.

This bag/sack has a draw string and is made of printed and soft velveteen type fabric and lined with cream cotton. This was a very simple bag to make but I think the end result is quite lush.

Yummy Cheese and Onion Pasties

At my hubby's request I made some Cheese and Onion pasties, well he'd been nagging since last time we'd bought some from the shop he'd not actually got to eat any...long story but he never said he wanted one and they were very tasty.
Anyway after all the nagging I said why buy anymore when I can make them easily myself. So that's what I did and if you want to give it a try heres the recipe.

Ingredients

1 pkt Puff Pastry (why make it yourself when this is easier and just as good)
550 gm Strong Cheddar Cheese
250 gm Red Leicester Cheese
3 large White Onions
2 large Red Onions
3 large Potatoes
1/2 tsp Dried Chilies
1 tsp English Mustard
Salt
Pepper

Method

Pre heat oven to 190 375 or Gas mark 5
Grate Cheese
Grate white onions

Grate potatoes
Finely chop the red onions. These can be grated too but I like a little bit more crunch in my pasties so I leave the red onion as chopped only.
Mix onions with cheese and potatoes

Add mustard,salt pepper and chilies
Roll out pastry mark out four squares and then add cheese and onion mix to centre of pastry.
Fold pastry to create pasties using little milk or water to stick pastry edges together.

Place on a lined baking sheet and cook in oven for about 20-30 mins varies greatly with size of pasty

They tasted scrummy, give them a try

More Advent Calenders

Just thought you might all like to see two other Advent Calenders I have made recently.

I pleased with how they have both turned out one for my daughter and one for my son( mind you his girlfriend seemed more impressed than he did)
